As a rider, you will be responsible for transporting urgent medical supplies between hospitals and healthcare facilities within Nottinghamshire, and beyond, with some consignments going as far as Barnsley, Birmingham and Bristol.
In the safe hands of our capable controllers, when a consignment request is received, you will be dispatched to transport the consignment from A to B. This could involve transportation of donated breast milk, specimen samples for testing, or blood transfusion units (amongst many more!).
Requirements:
For insurance and compliance purposes, all our riders must meet the following requirements:
If you haven't yet achieved a suitable advanced riding qualification, you may still apply to join us. We can provide advice and guidance that will help you to achieve your advanced riding qualification.
You may also wish to volunteer for one of our other roles while you wait to complete your advanced riding qualification!
If vehicles with 4 wheels are more your thing, we also have a fleet of fully liveried cars. Similar in nature to the rider role, as a driver, you would also be responsible for the transportation of urgent medical supplies from hospitals and healthcare facilities within Nottinghamshire and beyond.
You will receive, via our dedicated controllers, requests to transport urgent medical supplies for our healthcare provider partnerships.
Requirements
For insurance and compliance purposes, all our riders must meet the following requirements:
You'll need to be over 25 years of age;
You'll need to either undergo an assessed drive to demonstrate a competent and safe level of driving, or have an advanced driving/riding qualification (such as IAM or RoSPA). Having an advanced driving/riding qualification is sufficient to demonstrate your driving ability, and as such, does not require an in-house assessment.
You must have no more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence (inclusive of any pending convictions). This must be a full, unrestricted UK licence.
If you do not have an advanced driving qualification, we would strongly encourage you to pursue a recognised training provider to advance your driving skills when you have time.
Our controllers (call handlers) are the first point of contact for our partnered healthcare providers hoping to find transport for urgent and routine medical consignments.
Your task will be to efficiently record the details from phone calls from healthcare professionals using our job booking system, and dispatch our volunteer riders and drivers to their destinations with clear and concise instructions.
This role can be done from home, and all our incoming calls are re-directed from our dedicated phone number to your personal phone, meaning your phone numbers remain private.
Requirements:
Ability to remain calm and maintain composure under pressure, and communicate confidently, politely and professionally;
Basic IT proficiency in order to use our job booking system;
Adept record-keeping skills, to ensure that key timings are noted accurately and completely
No experience is necessary as full training will be provided.
As a charity largely dependent on charitable donations from individuals and organisations to keep our wheels turning, we rely on fundraisers to engage with members of the public to raise funds, and to recruit new volunteers by talking about the great work that we do.
You won't need to commit to fundraise every weekend, or even entire days at a time. If you can spare a few hours every now and then, you'll find a place within our team.
Requirements:
Although we don't have any strict requirements for this role, it will be highly beneficial for you to be able to engage with members of the public in a professional and friendly manner, to talk passionately about the work we do.
